This Canada Day weekend we celebrated the birth of our nation with saucy ribs, cold beers, and loud music at Centennial Park. It was the 14th year that The Rotary Club staged the Toronto Ribfest, and it seems to get bigger every year. I was on the scene with my camera and phone, tweeting and snapping photos for my blog post. In exchange for my efforts they gave me free ribs and beer. Not bad! The ribs were so juicy and delicious I devoured them with the ravenous hunger of a rabid wolf, washing it down with slugs of Heineken.
Proceeds from the event go towards The Rotary Club’s many community support initiatives, both local and international. There are dozens and dozens of such initiatives with the goal of eliminating world hunger and malnourishment. A good cause and a great event. This year it was estimated that 250,000 people attended over the course of the weekend. It was, without a doubt, the largest Ribfest yet.
